Apples need to be kept loosely in plastic bags while in your refrigerator or basement because they rot in dry, so tie them up loosely in plastic bags and store in a refrigerator or cool basement. One bad apple can actually spoil the whole bag so make sure you keep an eye your apples.

If you want a healthier diet, use less oil when you cook. These oils are often loaded with unhealthy fats. A wonderful option for cooking is a nonstick cooking spray. It gives the same nonstick result with far less health ramifications.

It is important to properly care for your wood cutting board if you want it to last a long time. Exposure to moisture or dryness can damage a wooden board easily. Don’t immerse it in water. Instead, quickly wash it with soapy warm water. When a cutting board shows signs of wear and tear, there are special oils that can rejuvenate them. It should be completely dry before its next use.

Allow the food to sit for a little while before serving it. Many home cooks do not realize that it is important it is to let a meal rest. It has become almost habit now to serve a meal as it comes right off the stove. If you serve immediately off the grill, you’ll miss out on the meat’s full flavor. Always let the meal cool and sit for about 5 minutes before eating.

Not all potatoes are the same, and if you substitute one type of potato for another, your dish may not come out like you expected.
