The Essential Sonoma Wine Country Guide

June 29, 2016 by Roger Lowford
The Essential Sonoma Wine Country Guide

Starting this weekend, thirsty tourists begin to flock to wine country for the high season, which lasts through the fall harvest. It’s an incredible place to visit, but if planning a weeklong trip of palate-crushing wine tastings seems daunting, that’s because it is. Fear not, because with a well-planed itinerary you don’t necessarily need days upon days to get a complete wine country experience. Start in San Francisco and simply focus on quality over quantity.

Where To Drink At 10 Of The Best July 4th Celebrations

June 29, 2016 by Roger Lowford
Where To Drink At 10 Of The Best July 4th Celebrations

Who knows what odd demonstrations of patriotism we’ll see this Fourth of July? Considering the country isn’t entirely, ah, united, there’s a chance the typical well-meaning attempt to explode colorful shapes in the sky could be overtaken by protests, counter protests, counter-counter protests, and then a bunch of variously competing declarations of patriotism and meta-patriotism among festival goers. Our hope, however, is that the special spirit of the Fourth of July will prevail.

10 Things You Need To Know About Burgundy

Most of us can’t afford most of the wine from Burgundy that’s out there. So yeah, it’s hard to know a ton about it. At least, “know” about it with our mouths. But there’s some talk Burgundy wine prices are starting to level out (see below). And really not all Burgundy is insanely expensive (also see below).

The Drunkest Beach Towns In America [Map]

Let’s face it, when we go to the beach, whether it’s legal or illegal, we drink. But some people drink more than others, and it seems the same is true for entire beaches. How do we know? Data. We’ve partnered with BACtrack to compile the BAC data collected via the BACtrack app last summer from June 1 – Aug. 31, 2015.

How A Winery Gets Designed

June 28, 2016 by Roger Lowford
How A Winery Gets Designed

It only takes one drive through Napa to see why the region is known for its beauty: between patches of grapevines, mansions and castles rise and glittering fountains welcome visitors into lush gardens and tasting rooms. But there’s more than Beaux-Arts flare to these massive facades, which double as functioning wineries.
