Making Great Meals: Tips, Tricks And Advice

Mashed Potatoes

To make your sauce thicker, stir cornstarch into the simmering sauce. In a small bowl, combine two tablespoons of water and 3 teaspoons of corn starch. Add this mix to the sauce little by little until it becomes thicker. Stir constantly as you pour the cornstarch and water mixture slowly into the pot.

Mushrooms will absorb the water like a large amount of water. Wipe the mushrooms off with a cloth to prepare them for cooking.

When adding seasonings to meat, test a small amount before seasoning the whole batch. You have to use caution when seasoning certain meats, such as meatballs, meatloaf and hamburgers. It is fairly easy to dry tomatoes yourself. Slice tomatoes 1/2″ thick to dry. Romas should be cut in two lengthwise. You should place them on cooling rack, and salt them lightly with the cut side up.
